By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Thursday named prosecutors Merlyn Uy and Charisse Galarita-Bitoon as the region’s and city’s top prosecutors, respectively. Uy, who was acting head of the City Prosecutor’s Office, replaced the late Regional State Prosecutor Jaime Umpa. The latter passed away last week. Bitoon rose from senior assistant city prosecutor to acting city prosecutor. The new designations are based on Aguirre’s Department Order 404 that was signed on June 15, 2017. The order took effect immediately.
