By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent PRESIDENT Duterte boosted the morale and aided wounded soldiers at Camp Evangelista on Sunday but spent no time to check on families displaced from their village in Lagonglong town in Misamis Oriental who evacuated to the capitol grounds here. The evacuees expressed dismay over Duterte’s failure to see their plight at the capitol grounds where they have been camping out since last week due to fresh skirmishes between the military and New People’s Army rebels. Tribal chieftain Reynaldo Ayuma, chairman of the Tagtabolon Higaonon Tribes Association, said Duterte’s visit showed that he only cared for soldiers. “Sundalo ra ang  gimahal ni President Duterte,” said Ayuma who are among the 180 evacuees from Sitio Mincamansi, Barangay Banglay in Lagonglong town who sought refuge at the capitol grounds. Ayuma noted that Duterte has been frequenting Cagayan de Oro, and that most of the time, he would spend it at the seat of the 4th Infantry Division in Patag. He said that while the soldiers  he visited were wounded in action, the skirmishes also adversely affected and hurt civilians like them. “Kami nga mga lumad, apiktado sa gira sa NPA ug mga sundalo wala hatagig bili sa Presidente,” said Ayuma. He said Duterte should have visited the evacuees at the capitol grounds in order to see what their problems were and how the government could help them. The evacuees have decided to stay at the capitol grounds rather than return to Mincamansi after the 58th Infantry  Battalion rejected their call to pull out troops from the village. The military said the soldiers were still carrying out clearing operations in the village. “Kon mo-atobang siya (Duterte) namo,  among  pangayo-on kaniya, nga iyang ihunong ang all-out war  ug iyang  pahawa-on ang mga sundalo  didto sa among mga komonidad,” Ayuma said. The evacuees staged a “minially” at the capitol grounds yesterday morning in an effort to bring their plight to public attention. Kalumbay-Northern Mindanao  chairman Jomorito Goaynon also frowned over Duterte’s failure to give the evacuees attention when he visited the city on Sunday. He said the reason why the villagers were displaced is because of Duterte’s order. “Dili lang unta ang military tan-awon ni President Duterte kon dili apil na unta usab kining mga lumad nga apiktado sa iyang  declaration nga all-out war batok sa NPA,” he said. Goaynon said the evacuees felt that Duterte did not care for them. He noted that the President didn’t even say anything about them when he was in the city on Sunday. “Wala gyud gani  siya miduaw dinhing  dapita sa kapitolyo,” he said. Goaynon called on Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Emano to do more to help the evacuees. Meanwhile, Emano said he and the capitol could not do anything about the military operations in Lagonglong. He said only Duterte has the power to stop the military activities there. But Emano assured that the capitol would provide the evacuees at the capitol grounds food,  water, and other basic needs. Sarisa Acosta, spokesperson of the Tagtabolon Higaonon Tribal Association,  said there were 180 evacuees or 37 families from Lagonglong at the capitol grounds. Acosta said they would not return until the soldiers leave their village.
