A GROUP of men brutally killed a woman and her son in Maitom, Upper Puerto, this city, on Sunday night.
The victims––Nobata Aringay, 59, and her son Edwin Aringay, 32––were riddled with bullets and repeatedly hacked some 200 meters from their house at around 9 pm.
The victims’ bodies were found by the Puerto police at around ` am yesterday. PO3 Mario Malata said Mrs. Aringay was a farmer while her son was a laborer at the Legaspi Oil in Barangay Tablon. Malata said the woman succumbed to a shotgun wounds and at least 24 hack wounds all over. Her son Edwin was repeatedly shot and hacked, too.
The victims came from Balubal and were bringing to their home two sacks of copra when they were attacked. Malata said investigators were still facing a blank wall but were suspecting the victims were killed because the suspects were interested in the black motorcycle they were using. The motorcycle was taken by the suspects. He said witnesses said the killers fled towards Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon.
