A Zamboanga City resident met his death after he was stabbed by a fellow Zamboangeño during a heated argument yesterday at 10 pm in the town of Initao, Misamis Oriental.
Police Maj. Michael Mercado, Initao Municipal Police Station head, identified the victim as Eric Antugon, 35, a resident of Barangay Benigno of the said City.
While the suspect was also identified as Jimmy Mandawan, 45, married, and a resident of the same city.
Police said personal grudges were the reason for the killing which transpired at Purok 6, Canitoan, Initao, Misamis Oriental.
An initial investigation revealed that the incident started when the victim made a disturbance that awakened the suspect from a deep slumber.
The victim then challenged the suspect to a fistfight. Irked, the suspect pulled out a 20-inch long sharp-pointed bolo and thrust it at the victim.
Antugon sustained injuries to the right side of his body and elbow. He was rushed to Initao provincial hospital where he was declared dead by the attending physicians.
Minutes later, Mandawan was arrested by responding policemen and is now detained at the mini-cell of the said police station.
