CAMIGUIN — A bountiful lanzones harvest is helping sustain families in Camiguin, with Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo crediting farmers’ hard work for this year’s yield as the island celebrates its 47th Lanzones Festival.

Romualdo thanked farmers for their perseverance in growing the sweet tropical fruit, a major source of livelihood for many families on the island.

In a statement published by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Camiguin, the governor expressed gratitude for the harvest and the farmers who patiently tend their trees.

“Let us begin by thanking God for the bounty of our island, for a plentiful harvest that has rewarded the patient of work of our farmers, and for all the blessings that have sustained our families throughout the year,” he said.

The festival, which runs until Oct. 25, gives residents and visitors a chance to celebrate the fruit and Camiguin’s farming heritage.

The Oct. 18 opening featured the Lanzones Grand Parade, with contingents from the island’s municipalities.

Other events include the Ugmad Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, Street Dancing and Ground Presentation Competition, Mutya sa Buahanan 2026, Danzones Inter-Agency Dance Competition and the annual Eat-All-You-Can Lanzones.

The province also held the Camiguin Lanzones Geographical Indication Stakeholders Forum on Oct. 20, focusing on the fruit’s agricultural heritage.

The festival ends on Sunday, Oct. 25.
