THE City Health Office has so far identified 181 people who may have been exposed to the 21-year-old vehicular accident victim from Barangay Lumbia who tested positive for Covid-19.
The contact-tracing and swabbings are ongoing.
Initially, 52 of those contact-traced have so far been swabbed, seven of whom are doctors and eight patients who were transferred from the Northern Mindanao Medical Center’s surgical intensive care unit to its Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (Erid) unit.
The new Covid-19 patient was treated at the NMMC surgical ICU after his spinal surgery.
Dr. Teodulfo Joselito Retuya, city epidemiologist who has been supervising the contact-tracing work, said that as of Monday morning, the 181 people who were traced have been cooperating with health workers.
Ninety-one of them are health workers at the NMMC while 40 others are from a private hospital where the new Covid-19 patient was transferred after surgery.
Retuya said 35 others are members of a local rescue group that responded to the vehicular accident while 15 others are relatives and friends of the patient.
Dr. Bernard Julius Rocha, an NMMC medical specialist, said the patient was transferred back to the NMMC where he is being “guarded.” (CIO)
