AROUND 300 victims of various calamities from 23 barangays in Cagayan de Oro City received financial assistance amounting to P10,000 each under the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) of the National Housing Authority (NHA). 

"The funds were provided by Senator Bong Go," said City Mayor's Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan, adding that the payout was conducted on Thursday, October 19, at the city hall quadrangle.

City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas, representing Mayor Klarex Uy, NHA-10 Regional Manager Engr. Alfonso Borlagdan, and Mr. Ken Belmonte, representing Senator Bong Go, were present during the payout.

Lumbatan explained that the goal of this payout, organized by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Department under CSWD Officer Annie Tongson, is to provide even a small relief to the lives of the city's residents who have been affected by various calamities.

The financial assistance aims to support the affected families in their recovery and help them address immediate needs such as shelter, food, and other essential items, according to Lumbatan.

"It is part of the government's commitment to providing aid and support to communities affected by disasters," she said.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the assistance received, acknowledging that it would greatly help them rebuild their lives and provide for their families. 

The local government under Mayor Uy according to Lumbatan through the coordination of the CSWD, assured the beneficiaries that they will continue to extend support and assistance to those in need in times of calamities and emergencies.
