STATE-OWNED Phividec Industrial Authority administrator and Chief Executive Officer Pompee La Viña was pleased to provide additional scholarships to Phividec workers through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center (RTC).
In a statement, Tesda-10 administrator Engr. Nazario D. Villamor Jr. after the consultation has approved an additional 300 scholarship slots for Phividec workers.
Villamor said TESDA aimed to enhance the knowledge of workers to be skilled and further improve competence in the held job. RTC-TESDA has even increased the quality of their teaching to fit the Industrial Automation System, especially in Phividec, according to Villamor.
Earlier, Villamor urged La Viña to be part of the Advisory Council for TESDA’s training center located at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
With that invitation, Administrator La Viña was elated to be part of RTC-TESDA in the desire to help it for current and future employees of Phividec.
According to Villamor, they will deliver modern education to the RTC to meet its needs in modern industry and various companies.
Meanwhile, to be part of the Advisory Council, La Viña was delighted that his views fit its move to provide adequate pay to workers with high and knowledge in their employment, especially the workers who go through the TESDA programs.
It will be recalled that La Viña was entrusted by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to run Phividec in October 2020 and after 8 months, state-owned Phividec’s achieved the highest net income.
As the current Phividec Administrator, La Viña focused on creating thousands of jobs; including the 100,000 jobs expected once the country’s first truly integrated steel mill goes into operation.
La Vina even said that from only 50%, will regularize all employees before the end of 2021. (Ben Balce)
