SIX boxers from the Cagayan de Oro RISER Amateur Boxing Team have secured their spots in the gold medal round at the Sandugo Boxing Championships held in Jagna, Bohol.
In the semifinal matches on July 18, four male boxers and two female boxers advanced to the finals.
The male finalists are Albert Barsabal (50-52 kg), Richniel Tutor (54-57 kg), Alex Padernal (54-57 kg), and Stanley Young (67 kilograms), according to reports from Coach Elmer Pamisa of CDO RISER Boxing.
In the girls’ division, the two finalists who advanced are Merry Jane Resonescion (48-50 kg) and Princess Anne Aranzo (50-52 kg).
Additionally, four more Cagayan de Oro boxers also advanced to the semifinals after impressive performances in the quarterfinals yesterday. These are Richard Payla (40-43 kg), Honeyper Bagobo (43-46 kg), Jobert Abragan (46-48 kg), and Gabriel Caranay (48-50 kg), as confirmed by Coach Pamisa.
All finalists are assured of receiving silver medals, while the semifinalists will be awarded bronze medals.
The CDO RISER Boxing Team is supported by Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy and led by City Sports Development Coordinator Allby Cris ‘Bheng’ Waga.
