THE Abu Sayyaf is believed to be still holding in Sulu at least 10 more captives, including a politician, and foreigners who were kidnapped in Malaysia and in Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga Sibugay, the military said. One of them is Mayor Gemma Adana of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay. She was seized in April 6 from her residence in Barangay Taytay Manubo, Naga. Military operations have continued in an effort to get back the other captives from the hands of the Abu Sayyaf, the Philippine News Agency reported. Lt. Gen. Rustico Guerrero, Western Mindanao Command chief, said the operations have continued after the two abducted Coast Guard personnel saw freedom last weeks as a result of the military pressure applied on the Abu Sayyaf. The two PCG personnel––SN2 Gringo Villaruz and SN1 Rod Pagaling––were freed from the Abu Sayyaf at the height of the firefight in Barangay Buanza, Indanan, Sulu, on Thursday. The Abu Sayyaf seized the two PCG personnel together with barangay chairman Rodolfo Boligao last May 4 in Aliguay, an island barangay in Dapitan City. The Abu Sayyaf executed Boligao in Aug. 11. Guerrero said the military has fielded troops to track down the group and in an effort to rescue the other captives.
