ANOTHER mayor, this time from China, sent a congratulatory message to Mayor Oscar Moreno following his reelection.
The message, contained in a letter, was sent by Mayor Song Xibin of Harbin City in China, following Moreno’s reelection.
Like Mayor Jong Hyunbok of Gwangyang City in South Korea, Song also expressed interest in strengthening relations between Harbin and Cagayan de Oro.
Harbin and Cagayan de Oro have a “sisterhood” agreement.
Song sent the letter to Moreno a day after the mayor’s proclamation as the winner in last week’s mayoral race that saw his reelection bid being challenged by ex-mayor Vicente Emano and Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District.
“On behalf of the City of Harbin... I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you on your reelection victory as mayor of Cagayan de Oro City, and best wishes for your future,”reads part of Song’s letter.
The Harbin mayor also expressed his desire to strengthen his city’s ties with Cagayan de Oro.
Song invited Moreno to Harbin. “I very much look forward to working with you to strengthen the relations between Harbin and Cagayan de Oro City to generate real benefits for the people of our Cities. Looking forward to having you in Harbin at your earliest convenience.”
Moreno said the letters he received from the mayors from South Korea and China were things that Cagayan de Oro can be proud of.
Moreno said he also wishes to strengthen Cagayan de Oro’s ties with the two cities. (nitz arancon)
