THE Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10), along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other enforcement agencies, has intensified security deployments in key areas as part of ‘Oplan Summer Vacation’ (SumVac) 2025, which runs from April 1 to May 31.
The deployment's focus includes tourist destinations, churches, recreational parks, and other high-traffic areas expected to draw large crowds during the two-month vacation period.
“This is the time when many travelers go to tourist spots, churches, and recreational areas, and these places require the presence of police personnel and our counterparts to ensure public safety,” said Police Maj. Joann Navarro, spokesperson for PRO-10.
Navarro clarified that while this summer coincides with the campaign period for the upcoming elections, Labor Day on May 1, and Election Day on May 12, these events are not covered under the SumVac operation. Separate security deployments are planned for those dates.
For Holy Week, which falls from April 13 to 20, PRO-10 will deploy 1,577 personnel to churches, monasteries, and stations of the cross across the region.
“This is a very different kind of activity, so we are intensifying our deployment to ensure safety during religious observances,” Navarro said.
According to PRO-10, the region includes 154 churches, 33 stations of the cross, three monasteries, 125 national highways, three airports, 10 seaports, and an unspecified number of bus terminals — all of which are being monitored during the SumVac period.
“Our police, together with our counterparts, are also stationed at airports, seaports, and bus terminals to ensure the safety of travelers,” Navarro added.
PRO-10 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman urged the public to support the police and cooperate with authorities during the implementation of Oplan SumVac.
