THE Philippine National Police (PNP-10) Press Corps held a modest Christmas fellowship on December 18 at Camp Alagar, reflecting a commitment to supporting victims of recent calamities across the country.
PBGen. Jaysen C. de Guzman, the event’s guest of honor, highlighted the importance of redirecting resources to assist those affected by a series of typhoons that devastated multiple regions.
He acknowledged that some police officers and their families were also among those impacted.
While the Press Corps maintained its annual tradition, the event saw a reduction in the usual gift distribution, aligning with cost-saving measures mandated by the PNP.
PMaj. Joann Navarro, spokesperson for PNP-10, clarified that the adjustment was part of orders from higher command to prioritize aid efforts for typhoon victims.
The move aligns with PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil's directive following Malacañang’s call for government agencies to avoid lavish Christmas celebrations.
The appeal emphasized solidarity with the millions of Filipinos still reeling from the six typhoons that struck the nation this year.
The scaled-down event underscores the PNP’s focus on providing support to those in need, particularly those affected by the calamities.
