IN a coordinated operation on October 24, law enforcement authorities seized a shipment of smuggled cigarettes valued at approximately P2.4 million in Cagayan de Oro City.
Police Major Joann Navarro, spokesperson for the Philippine National Police Region 10, confirmed the operation involved units from the Maritime Police Station of Misamis Oriental, the Regional Special Operations Unit 10, and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office.
The operation took place in Nicolas Hector, Barangay Puntod, where authorities seized 200 boxes of contraband cigarettes worth around P1.6 million.
They also confiscated an Isuzu 10-wheeler truck, valued at P800,000, reportedly consigned to an individual identified only as ‘Jessy.’
The seized goods are currently in the custody of Bureau of Customs-10 for inventory and documentation.
Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman praised the officers’ efforts, emphasizing the importance of strict enforcement to curb smuggling, protect local businesses, and support economic growth.
“We will continue to fight against smuggling to foster a fair marketplace and promote economic growth,” he said.
