AS P/Brigadier Gen. Lawrence Coop ends his tenure as the regional director of the Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10), he handed over the command to Brigadier Gen. Ricardo Layug, Jr this morning at the Grandstand in Camp Vicente Alagar in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

P/Major Joann Navarro, PRO-10 spokesperson, said Coop is relinquishing his post pending his retirement on October 29 this year at the age of 56.

All previous preparations for the incoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections remain, Navarro said.

Coop served for one year and two months in Northern Mindanao as he took his command that started on August 16, 2022, she said.

Layug comes from the Philippine National Police’s Engineering Service before his assignment as police commander for Region-10, Navarro added.

In an interview with reporters, Layug said he would uphold the discipline of the police here and maintain good relations with the community.

When it comes to discipline, Layog said, “We have a lot of policies, and laws that have been approved, the only thing that is missing is the observance, support of the community, and the implementation.”

Layug told reporters he is not considering any reshuffling as of yet.
