Padada Vice Mayor Francisco Guerrero said rescuers are still looking for a certain Emily Gallegos, a cashier, who is believed to be still inside the collapsed structure.

“Our rescuers have to stop digging several times because the aftershocks are quite strong,” Guerrero said.

Guerrero said the first two bodies, both female, were pulled out at around 1 am Monday.

He said the last two bodies were recovered later as rescue teams as far away in Davao City and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) have arrived to help in the search and recovery operations.

Guerrero said they are still looking for a certain Emily Gallegos, a cashier, who is believed to be still inside the collapsed structure.

“We hope she will be the last person inside the building,” he said.

Earlier, Guerrero said there might have been nine persons that have been trapped inside the collapsed three-story building.

Guerrero said the Davao City rescue group deployed sophisticated life detecting equipment to listen for audible and visual signs under the collapsed structure.

The total number of fatalities so far in the 6.8 tremors last Sunday is five.

Officials said a three-year-old girl identified as Cherbelchen Imgador died after she was hit by falling debris in Barangay Asinan, Matanao town, Davao del Sur last Sunday afternoon.

Hundreds more were hurt when buildings and houses already weakened by the series of earthquakes since Oct. 16, were finally destroyed or damaged.
