In a public hearing conducted by Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Wednesday afternoon at the Medina covered court, Vice Gov Pelaez said he strongly opposed to the project.

He then announced that the Sanggunian Panlalawigan will pass a resolution on the next regular session addressed to the secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways to suspend the implementation of the project.

Pelaez said the residents who will be affected by the project were never consulted.

It was learned that Pelaez’ house, located at Barangay Cabug, is among the barangays which will be affected by the road widening project.

The other barangays which will be affected by the project are: South Poblacion, North Poblacion, Bulwa, and Duka.

Gi konsulta unta ang katawhan nga apektado ning maong proyekto una gihimo ang plano,” said Pelaez.

For his part, town mayor Donato Chan asked for apology for not attending the public hearing because of some important  matters he had to attend to.

Pero wala ako’y gahum pagpugong sa maong proyekto tungod kay iya kana sa national  governnent,”  Chan said.

Some 600 residents who will be affected by the road widening project attended the public hearing.
