Soldiers of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID) have joined the Philippine National Red Cross (PRC) on Friday bloodletting activity inside Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City, an Army official said Saturday.
4ID public affairs chief Captain Al Anthony Pueblas said the blood-letting activity is in connection on yesterday's 122nd celebration of the Philippine Independence with the theme, "Kalayaan 2020: Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan, at Ligtas".
The activity also held in line with the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ guidance to hold scheduled bloodletting initiatives, aims to supplement the insufficient volume of blood stored in blood banks due to the corona virus.
“The soldiers are not only ensuring the safety of Filipinos and securing the land “but also saving lives,” said Pueblas.
Pueblas said the blood-letting activity, dubbed, “Dugo Ko, Buhay Ko, Alay Ko” was participated by seventy nine soldiers from the 4ID who collected a total of 25,200cc of blood (56 blood bags) to PRC.
He said with this kind of activity the 4ID lives up to the Filipino tradition of “bayanihan” that is service above self and sacrifice for the many. (Ben Balce)
