NORTHERN Mindanao Region (NMR XII) Bagwis Dos of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Philippines Eagles, Inc., organized relief operations for nearly 300 fire victims who are currently staying at a school in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, on Sunday.
The fire victims received essential donations from NMR-12 Eagle members, including water in gallons, sandwich snacks, juice, and used clothing. These donations provided much-needed relief to the affected individuals.
The relief operations saw participation from "Kuya and Ate" members of various Eagles clubs from towns like Tagoloan, Villanueva, Jasaan, and clubs within Cagayan de Oro City. Their collective efforts showcased the spirit of unity and service.
Local officials reported that 46 houses were affected by the fire, impacting 67 families and a total of 231 individuals.
The estimated cost of the damage is P8,371,950.00, they said, adding that the evacuation center has become a temporary refuge for those who lost their homes.
NMR XII – Bagwis Dos is guided by the motto, "Ang katawhan Mao ang Bida," which emphasizes the central role of the people in shaping the region’s future. This motto inspires unity and a commitment to community service among its residents.
The Bagwis Dos Region is home to several prominent clubs, such as Aghasa-a Eagles Club, Villa Anchor Eagles Club, Tagoloan Eagles Club, Tagoloan Lady Eagles Club, East Timbalo Eagles Club, Royal Knights Eagles Club, and Royal Knights Lady Eagles Club.
These clubs play a vital role in community outreach and support.
In connection with the relief operations, NMR-12 also held their 8th regional executive meeting on Saturday, hosted by the Villa Anchor Eagles Club under the leadership of President Kuya Joenard Tudtud.
The meeting was a significant event for the region.
NMR-12 Regional Governor Eagle Eric Daabay highlighted the importance of serving the community with excellence.
He expressed gratitude to the clubs that contributed their time and donations to help the fire victims during this challenging time.
"Daghan kaayong salamat sa mga clubs na nag spare ug time and donations to help mostly in this trying times for the fire victims," said Daabay.
He emphasized the strong brotherhood and cooperation within NMR-12 Bagwis Dos.
Daabay encouraged clubs to actively recruit new Eagle members and inspire others to contribute to the welfare of those in need.
He noted that their generosity would positively impact the lives of the affected individuals.
The earlier (NMR 12) Bagwis Dos regional executive meeting, hosted by the Villa Anchor Eagles Club, unveiled significant details about upcoming events in the region for this year.
Gov Daabay thanked the clubs, especially the host, for making the meeting memorable.
During the meeting, President Kuya Joenard Tudtud stressed the importance of individual presence and representation of the host club.
His remarks underscored the value of community and collective effort.
It was also announced that a new club, the CDO-Coastal Royal Knights Eagles Club, would be chartered on September 7, 2024.
Members of this club were present after holding a Coastal Clean Up Drive at the shoreline of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
During the chartering event, Daabay stated that attendees are expected to dress formally, preferably in a barong or equivalent formal attire, to maintain a dignified atmosphere.
He welcomed the new club members and encouraged them to uphold the values of NMR-12 Bagwis Dos and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Earlier this month, the Royal Knights Eagles Club and Royal Knights Lady Eagles Club, along with their "Kuya, Ate, and Mga Bunso," including Friends of Eagles, held a family day that strengthened camaraderie and brotherhood among members.
This event highlighted the importance of unity within the community.
