MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano has promised provincial prosecutors more financial aid even as he ordered the capitol’s engineering department to give their office a facelift. Emano’s pledge and order came after the prosecutors complained of being overworked, and undercompensated. They also complained about cramping in their offices and about the lack of finances to even attend their annual convention. In a prepared statement, the provincial prosecutors said they have a total case load of some 1,345 handled by only 14 prosecutors or about 96 cases per prosecutor. They said the situation is aggravated by poor working conditions at the second floor of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) building where they transferred after the Hall of Justice burned down in January. The prosecutors said they also feared that they may not receive their allowances for the months of October to December, this year, and may not be able to attend their own annual convention due to lack of funds. Emano responded and promised that any budgetary deficiency of the prosecutor’s office may cushioned using fund from his office. He told them to process their travel papers so that they may be able to attend their national convention. He also ordered provincial engineer Lester Bolo to give the prosecutors’ office a facelift and fix its electrical connections. (pio-misor)
