AS the national and local elections draw near, candidates who are throwing their hats into politics are also busy visiting different places informing voters of their platforms.

One of them is the Barkadahan partylist candidates who just visited Cagayan de Oro City last week, especially at barangays Lapasan, Kauswagan, and Nazareth.

Dr. Ariel Potot, 2nd nominee Barkadahan Partylist enumerated their plans if and when their group will be one of those that will be elected.

Potot said Barkadahan Partylist has revolved into so-called JHEEPSS or Justice, Health, Environment, Education, Senior Citizen, and Sports.

He said there must be a need to reform the justice system in the country for a speedy resolution of cases that is patterned to that of the United States.

Potot said as a lawmaker he will file a law creating a group of juries. Juries are a big help to quickly resolved cases.

In the health issue, Potot said the country has already a lot of health centers.

“Yes, meron tayong mga estraktura o mga buildings pero ano ang nakikita natin puro lang tao na walang ginagawa kasi walang supply na medisina. Kailangan talaga palakasin natin ito,” Potot said.

“But we can see are only the staff who do nothing except to talk and talk. There are not enough medicines for the people. We strengthen health care centers,” he added.

In education, the said candidate revealed that Barkadahan had started as a socio-civic association in the 1990s.

He said the people behind Barkadahan had long been helping the youth, adding that they only joined politics today.

“Some of our members are into helping individuals to become priests, some are into engineering courses. But mine is for the youth who are chess enthusiasts So, even before we joined politics we already have done something for our young people,” Potot said.

In the Environment Potot stressed that Barkadahan has already drawn a plan for it.

In the peace issue, he said that if there is no peace there will be no progress.

He said peace is one of the most important ingredients in order that the country will become progressive.

In sports he said, he is always a proponent of that, especially in chess and arnis.

“We have friends like Grand Master Eugene Torre, Asia’s chess grandmaster, and Grand Master Dizon Gonzales who are willing to help us,” Potot said.

He said in Lapu-Lapu City where he was born ‘dose pares’ or arnis is a very popular sport.

“Barkadahan would just want to enhance our own local sports. Arnis is very popular even in America,” He said.

For the senior citizens, Potot said that even though there is already a senior citizen partylist but he is also good that there is another group like us that will help the plight of the old people.
