BATAC City, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan de Oro City have officially signed a sisterhood agreement. The aim of this pact is to strengthen collaboration and foster deeper ties between the two cities.
On Tuesday, Lumbatan said, led by their own City Mayor Albert D. Chua, along with members of the council and department heads, the officials from Batac City were individually introduced by Mayor Klarex during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning.
In line with this, Mayor Klarex urged the department managers at the city hall to share any relevant information that the visitors may need to better understand the local situation.
"This exchange of information aims to foster a productive discussion during their stay," said Lumbatan.
To show their hospitality, the city government prepared a welcome dinner hosted by Vice Mayor Jocelyn 'Bebot' Rodriguez for the guests from Batac City, Ilocos Norte, according to Lumbatan.
Batac City is well-known for its historical significance, being the birthplace of notable figures in Philippine history such as Former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., General Artemio Ricarte, Bishop Gregorio Aglipay, and many others.
The sisterhood agreement between Cagayan de Oro City and Batac City, Lumbatan said holds great potential for promoting cultural exchange, economic collaboration, and cooperation in various areas of development.
"This visit serves as an important step towards strengthening ties between the two cities," she said.
Both parties are eager to explore opportunities for collaboration and the sharing of resources that will benefit their respective communities.
The officials from Batac City have expressed their enthusiasm for the potential partnership, and discussions during their visit are expected to shape the future of the sisterhood agreement.
As the visit concludes, Lumbatan added that the officials from Batac City will return home with a deeper understanding of Cagayan de Oro City and its unique attributes.
