CITY Council Majority Floor Leader Edgar Cabanlas yesterday, March 31, criticized former Mayor Oscar Moreno’s unfinished projects, accusing him of leaving behind problems for the current administration of Mayor Rolando Uy.

During a council session, Cabanlas was pressed to respond to concerns about the unused projects initiated under Moreno, including the Child Development Center in Mambuaya, the Tablon Hospital, and the city library.

“Sa among pagtan-aw ana, iya kining gihimo para paghatag problema sa sunod nga administrasyon,” Cabanlas said.

He argued that the projects were poorly planned and substandard, saying they could have been completed if executed properly.

“At the end of the day, wala nila giayo pag plano. Example kanang City Library, ang phase 2 giuna nila paghuman, ang phase 1 wala pa gani. Gi bilin nya ang problema. Ang gipagsulbad nya ang next nga administration,” he said.

Cabanlas also questioned the construction of Tablon Hospital, pointing out that no provisions were made for road access.

“Unsaon man nila ana pagpasulod sa mga pasyente nga wala may dalan,” he said.

He further criticized the simultaneous construction of the Tablon and Lumbia hospitals, arguing that both projects required significant funding, including expenses for hiring hospital staff.

“Muigo kaha ang income sa syudad, pag sweldo sa mga tao diha? Dili,” Cabanlas said.

He contended that Moreno should have implemented the projects in phases to avoid burdening the Uy administration.

“Wala’y planning kay gidungan niya. Tan-awa, wala na hinooy nahuman bisag usa,” he added.

When reminded that he had approved these projects under the previous administration, Cabanlas clarified that while he initially supported them, the final decisions rested with Moreno.

“Ako nalipay ko ana permiro, but all these decisions nga mao na ilang buhaton, gikan man gyud na sa mayor (Moreno). Dili ma ‘ni gikan sa Sanggunian. Kami Sanggunian wala mi mahimo ana. Alangan mo object kami nga medyo pamation nimo, maayo man,” he said.

Despite their reservations at the time, Cabanlas said they had hoped for the best.

“We hope for the best. Nga unta, gidungan man nimo. Hinaot unta nga ma ok lang sya. Unya dawbi di man diay ok,” he said.
