THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a man and his wife during a raid that resulted in the confiscation of a machine gun, ammunition, and illegal drugs in Barangay San Isidro, Balingasag town, Misamis Oriental, at around 5 am yesterday.
Lt. Noel Oclarit, leader of the CIDG team, identified the suspects as 47-year-old Ferdinand Roa and his wife Nara, 45.
Oclarit said authorities combed the Roa home during the court-authorized search and found an unlicensed KG sub-machine gun, ammunition, suspected shabu and paraphernalia.
He said Ferdinand was the CIDG target and the subject of the search warrant but authorities had to arrest his wife Nara, too, for “constructive possession.”
“Nakabalo man iyang misis nga na-ay illegal nga gihimo ang iyang bana pero mi-konsinte siya. Wala siya mosumbong sa mga otoridad, mao nang lakip siya among gidakop tungod sa ‘constructive possession,’” Oclarit said.
Oclarit said the suspects would be charged with illegal arms and ammunition possession, and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
The couple declined when reporters pressed them for comment.
