IN response to the recent bombing incident during a Mass at the Mindanao State University-Marawi gymnasium, the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Department, under the guidance of City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy has implemented a range of measures to support and assist the affected students and individuals in Cagayan de Oro.

City Mayor's Office Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan said to address the psychological impact of the traumatic event, psychological first aid is being provided to affected students and individuals. 

"This form of support aims to help them cope with the emotional and psychological distress caused by the incident," said Lumbatan. 

Additionally, basic profiling is being conducted to understand the specific needs of each individual and provide targeted assistance accordingly, according to Lumbatan.

She also said that in a commendable effort to alleviate the immediate needs of the victims, the CSWD Department is also offering free meals and snacks. 

Recognizing the importance of nourishment during challenging times, Lumbatan disclosed that this provision ensures that those affected have access to nutritious food to sustain them during their stay away from home.

For the convenience and safety of the affected individuals, both students from Cagayan de Oro and those residing outside the city are being accommodated in a hotel on Corrales Avenue. 

Here, the mayor's chief of staff said they are being taken care of by the respective LGUs, ensuring their well-being and comfort during this difficult period.

"Mayor Klarex Uy has made it a priority to guarantee the safety and security of those affected by the incident," Lumbatan said. 

To accomplish this she said, the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Department, along with other departments within the city hall, has deployed vehicles and personnel to facilitate the transportation of students who wish to return to Cagayan de Oro following the incident.

The concerted efforts of the CDO LGU, led by Mayor Klarex Uy Lumbatan reflect their genuine commitment to providing comprehensive support to the victims of the MSU bombing. 

By addressing the immediate psychological and physical needs of those affected, she stressed the city aims to assist them in their journey towards healing and recovery.
