CITY hall’s Incident Management Team has cordoned off an area in Sitio Macanhan, Barangay Carmen, this city, following the confirmation that a patient from the place who died at a hospital here on May 15 had Covid-19.

Nick Jabagat, IMT incident commander, said they have contained Zone 9, Phase I of the sitio since last night.

“Ato na kanang gi-lock ang mga pathway. Wala na’y makasulod ug gawas except sa designated entrance and exit points. Ang maka sulod gawas lang kay mga residents ug kadtong mga Apor [Authorized Person Outside Residence],” Jabagat said.

He said residents who have to go out for work or buy essentials, must present their barangay exit passes or company IDs. For the authorized, they must show their IDs.

“Full implementation, gi-coordinate with barangay officials, ang containment sa area,” Jabagat said.

Jabagat said the City Health Office’s contact tracing also started last night.

“As advised by Dr. (Joselito) Retuya, magpadayon sa contact tracing. Mas gipalawoman pa gani. Last night pud, na extract na iyang pamilya (husband and daughter). Gipa sulod sila sa City Isolation Unit,” he said.

He said Retuya’s contact tracing team also started their house-to-house monitoring for acute respiratory and influenza-like illnesses in the area.

Jabagat said the containment of the area will last for 14 days.

“Atong gi-discourage ang paggawas sa balay. Dili kaayo ’ta galisod kay active ang mga residents sa pag monitor sa kada kanto. Sila man gyud ang maka ila kung kinsay lumolupyo sa area or not. Cooperative kaayo ang mga residents,” he said.

Lt. Col Dexter Paje, deputy director of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, said they have also been instructed to deploy personnel to the area.

“Role namo is to limit ang tao nga mugawas ug sulod sa area nga atong gi-contain,” said Paje.

He said they have also established 13 additional checkpoints in the city to closely monitor the implementation of the city’s Covid-19 response guidelines.

“Instruction sa amo is to strictly implement social distancing, curfew hours, wearing of face mask in public, ug ang Barangay Exit Pass,” said Paje. (Cong B. Corrales)
