AFTER weeks of careful consideration, Cagayan de Oro City Hall is gearing up to initiate a trial run of its innovative outreach initiative in selected areas of Barangay Tignapoloan.
The primary objective is to conduct a door-to-door outreach to address the diverse needs of every household, announced the program’s chief coordinator, Rico Libre, on Thursday.
Scheduled to commence on January 30, the inaugural phase of the 'SurUy-SurUy Sa Baryo' program will focus on servicing the sitios of Barangay Tignapoloan, specifically targeting Sitio Man-ai in upper Tignapoloan and lower Tignapoloan.
Libre, who is also the Chief of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, shared this information during the latest installment of the 'Department in Focus' program, hosted by the City Information Office. Mayor Rolando Uy emphasized the importance of reaching out directly to households across the city's 80 barangays during discussions with the technical working group overseeing the program.

In preparation for Mayor Uy’s visit, along with councilors and department representatives, a pre-assessment will be conducted on identified beneficiaries to streamline the delivery of services and address community concerns promptly.
Libre acknowledged that immediate resolution may not be possible for all issues, especially those related to infrastructure, as they are part of City Hall’s annual investment program (AIP) and individual barangay development plans.
However, he assured that Mayor Uy is committed to finding solutions for unaddressed needs.
Unlike previous programs where residents had to visit designated centers, ‘SurUy-SurUy Sa Baryo’ adopts a door-to-door approach.
City Hall's department managers will traverse neighborhoods, interacting with constituents to understand their immediate requirements, such as medical services.
For the successful implementation of the program, Libre highlighted the need for security measures for participants and recipient sitios, along with the strategic deployment of resources.
The program aims for a more focused service delivery, with thorough assessments conducted before personnel and resources are deployed to beneficiaries. (Stephen Capillas of the City Information Office)
