CITY hall used sheets of iron roofing to isolate a neighborhood in Macanhan, Barangay Carmen after another woman from the community tested positive for Covid-19 Sunday.
City health officer Lorraine Nery said a 59-year-old woman was found with the virus, the first reported case since the city eased to modified general community quarantine status on Monday.
Nery said the woman was a neighbor of the 62-year-old female patient who died on May 15, in Zone 9, Sitio Macanhan, Barangay Carmen.
The community has been on isolation since May 16 following the death of the 62-year-old patient.
On Monday, the city government sealed the community with sheets of iron roofing to prevent the residents from going out.
“The city government provides them with free food so long as they do not go out,” a nearby resident said.
Nery said the containment would have been lifted on June 5 but with the recent Covid-19 case, the quarantine will continue until June 15.
She said aside from the new patient, the husband, and daughter of the 62-year-old woman who died on May 15, have tested positive for Covid-19.
Dr. Nery said the new patient, and the husband and daughter of the 62-year old woman who died were on isolation in an undisclosed medical facility in the city.
She said there are five active Covid-19 cases here now, including the two students who arrived from Cebu City on May 19. (Froilan Gallardo)
