THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has ramped up efforts to ensure public safety ahead of the city’s fiesta celebrations on August 28, promising full police visibility in strategic areas such as malls and markets.
City Police Director Col. Salvador Radam confirmed the measures during a forum, stating that preparations are in full swing.
Radam and Cocpo Spokesperson Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, along with station commanders, addressed these security plans at the “Meet the Press” event on Wednesday, hosted by Director Amor Barlisan of the Cagayan de Oro Press Club.
In addition to the police presence, barangay tanods will assist in maintaining peace and order throughout the month-long festival, Radam said.
Multiple meetings have been held to ensure the event’s smooth conduct, including traffic management discussions.
For his part, Viñas announced that police personnel will be deployed citywide during the festivities, with additional support from the Philippine National Police-10 and the Misamis Oriental Provincial Command.
Radam has also enforced a No Vacation Leave Policy for all its police personnel, including Non-Uniformed Personnel, for the entire month of August.
In a related appeal, Radam urged the public to participate in maintaining peace and order by reporting any suspicious activities.
“It’s a great help to report when there is noticeable or suspicious criminality,” he told reporters.
