CAGAYAN de Oro City’s Housing & Urban Development Department (Chudd) warned against unauthorized individuals’ actions like building houses inside relocation sites without obtaining approval from Chudd.
“Unauthorized actions are misguided and do not align with the Chudd's established procedures,” said Chudd acting Department Manager lawyer Samuel Rollo.
Rollo clarified that such actions also violate the law and may lead to the revocation of land ownership privileges granted by the city.
This reminder according to Rollo comes in response to reports of individuals building houses on relocation sites without obtaining approval from Chudd, assuming they would gain ownership if the city decided to demolish or remove those structures.

Under Uy's leadership, he said emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility in its housing programs.
Rollo said the department collaborates with private developers and non-governmental organizations to expand the availability of affordable housing units.
By partnering with these stakeholders, Chudd leverages resources and expertise to create housing solutions tailored to the needs of the poor.
Led by Mayor Rolando Uy, Rollo added that the Uy administration through the Chudd is actively working to meet the housing needs of the city’s impoverished population.
Chudd has even implemented various initiatives and projects aimed at providing affordable housing options and improving living conditions for those in need.
One notable project by Chudd involves constructing low-cost housing communities in strategic locations throughout Cagayan de Oro.
These communities provide safe and decent homes for families currently residing in informal settlements or inadequate housing conditions.
Chudd ensures that these housing units have essential amenities, including clean water, electricity, and access to basic services, thereby improving residents’ quality of life.
To further assist the impoverished population, Chudd implements financial assistance programs and subsidies.
These initiatives aim to make homeownership more attainable for low-income families by providing financial support, such as down payment assistance or reduced interest rates on housing loans.
By reducing the financial burden, Chudd enables more families to secure permanent and stable housing, helping break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability.
In addition to housing options, Chudd, under Mayor Uy’s administration, prioritizes community development.
By fostering a sense of community and providing support beyond housing, Chudd aims to create sustainable and thriving neighborhoods.
Again, led by the mayor and through affordable housing initiatives, financial assistance programs, and community development efforts, Chudd is working towards a more inclusive and equitable city.
Their commitment to uplifting the lives of the less fortunate sets an inspiring example for other cities facing similar challenges, highlighting the transformative power of accessible housing in building stronger communities.
Rollo expressed optimism that the public will understand and comply with the housing program’s regulations, ensuring a fair and equitable distribution of housing resources throughout the city.
