CAGAYAN de Oro police chief Henry Dampal today admitted that law enforcers were facing more challenges now in implementing health safety rules under a modified general community quarantine.
Col.Dampal admitted this even as he directed chiefs of police stations and units under the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office to tighten security measures in the city.
But a “[modified general community quarantine] will be more challenging because more people and vehicles are now outside,” Dampal said.
He said the police would still strictly enforce the curfew hours in the city, increase police visibility, and set up checkpoints in strategic areas of the city.
“Reopening of the economy in the city means deployment of additional plainclothes personnel,” according to Dampal.
He said under a modified general community quarantine, more police officers would be deployed to inspect vehicles passing but without causing gridlocks.
Police, he said, would also conduct random inspections on establishments.
“This is to make sure physical distancing and wearing of face masks are observed even inside establishments,” said Dampal. (Ben Balce)
