By NITZ ARANCON and ALWEN SALIRING Correspondents EX-MAYOR Vicente Emano is planning on undergoing stem cell therapy after his treatment at the Capitol University Medical City (CUMC) for an ailment that sent him to the hospital’s emergency room and subsequently, its intensive care unit (ICU) on Saturday, Councilor Alexander Dacer said yesterday. Dacer said this after Emano’s daughter Councilor Nadya Elipe said that “my dad dad is doing well” as she laughed off speculations about her 74-year old father’s health. Dacer did not say where Emano planned to undergo stem cell therapy but he added that the former mayor has long been prodded by friends to get the treatment. The relatively expensive treatment uses cultured embryonic stem cells to treat or prevent diseases or conditions. Councilor Elipe said her father has recovered and even wanted to be discharged from CUMC “the other day” but was prevented by doctors because some laboratory tests had to be made. She declined to say what her father’s ailment was but said, “Hulatan na lang nato nga makagawas si Dongkoy kay siya mismo moklaro sa tanan.” Elipe said she was already used to issues about Emano’s health. “Sa una pana nila ginatira si Dongkoy tungod sa health concerns.”
