MORE than P130,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from a 30-year-old Barangay Indahag resident in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday.

The suspect was identified as Aljun Mabansag, single, and residing at Upper Sumpong of the said barangay. He is listed in the Directorate of Intelligence watch list.

Mabansag was arrested by elements of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the Police Regional Office-10 during a buy-bust operation at Phase 2 Habitat of the same place.

Seized from the direct possession and control of the suspect were two different sizes of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated total weight of 20 grams worth P136,000 Standard Drug Price, a weighing scale, a mobile phone, and a genuine P500 bill used as buy-bust money.

The suspect was brought to Cagayan Police Station 2 under Police Major Julius Saluta for booking and disposition.

A case for violation of RA 9165 is being prepared for filing in court against him.

Regional Police Director Benjamin Acorda, Jr., commended the operating teams for another notable accomplishment.

“Almost every day meron tayong naaaresto at narerekober na mga iligal na droga. Ibig sabihin lang nito, na ang kapulisan sa Region 10 ay patuloy na lumalaban at mas lalo pang pinaigting ang kampanya laban sa iligal na droga. We will win this war on drugs and make Northern Mindanao a safer place to live and do business,” he said.

He also encouraged the public to continuously support the government in its campaign against illegal drugs and criminality by reporting any suspicious activities in their locality.
