A 31-year-old embalmer in Bukidnon was arrested yesterday by authorities in connection with the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) case filed against him.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Mark Jay Rico Rosales, single, and a resident of Purok 5, Barangay 9, Malaybalay City of the said province.
He was arrested by personnel assigned at Malaybalay City Police Station led by Police Lt. Ernie Cabrera at Purok 5, Barangay 1 of the same city at 2:42 pm.
Judge Isobel Barroso of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 8, Malaybalay City recommended the suspect P72,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
Republic Act 9262, section 5 known as Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) is a law that caused mental or emotional anguish, public ridicule, or humiliation to the woman or her child, including, but not limited to, repeated verbal and emotional abuse, and denial of financial support or custody of minor children of access to the woman’s child or children.
The suspect is now under the custody of Malaybalay police for proper disposition.
