By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent THE Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal of Senior Insp. Ludwig Charles Espera and Insp. Arnel Gighe, suspects in one of the twin Jamaca-Yabut murders in December 2014, in connection with a standoff at the Cogon police station involving them and a former regional director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). In a 12-page decision dated June 16, 2015, a copy of which was furnished this paper yesterday, the ombudsman ordered the dimissal of Espera and Gighe for grave misconduct. The ombudsman also recommended the filing of a ciminal case of direct assault against Espera and Gighe. The ombudsman also ordered the three-month suspension of former Cogon police station commander Senior Insp. Joel Nacua, Senior Insp. Gilbert Rollien, and Insp. Bernard Colegio for simple misconduct.  They are not to be paid their salaries during the suspension period. The ombudsman recommended an obstruction of justice case against Nacua, Rollien, and Colegio. The decision was a result of a case filed by Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum,  former chief of the CIDG in Northern  Mindanao, and Chief Insp. Melgar Devaras, chief of the CIDG in the city, because of a standoff that took place at the Cogon police station on Dec. 12, 2014. Tagum alleged that Espera and Gighe pointed their guns at him at the height of an argument, resulting in a standoff. He said Nacua, Rollien, and Colegio failed to stop Espera and Gighe from pointing their guns at him. Tagum said what happened was that the police arrested four civilian agents of the CIDG who were tasked to gather information in connection with the Jamaca-Yabut murders. The CIDG, he said, suspected that a motorcycle that belonged to one of the victims was brought to a safe house in Camaman-an.
