COUNCILOR Leon Gan yesterday said the Padayon Pilipino would still be a force to reckon with in the city council as he counted seven of its members winning seats in the 16-person local legislature. Gan also counted two members of the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP)--Councilors Enrico Salcedo and Teofulfo Lao--as natural allies of the new majority bloc. Gan said this amid calls by Vice Mayor-elect Joaquin Rainier Uy to put an end to political bickerings, unite, and focus on development efforts. He said he would work to bridge the gap between the local executive and legislative branches so they could agree on things that should be done especially on health, education and livelihood programs. Gan however said his group would do everything to make the Moreno administration become transparent in all its transactions. “We still have the majority in number. Gan said it would only be proper for councilors to scrutinize documents and plans. “We were charged in court by Mayor Oscar Moreno in relation to the city’s budget but all of his cases have been dismissed in court. Sakto ang among gibarugan og gipensahan,” he said.
