THE head of the economic cluster of the Emergency Operations Center of the city government yesterday appealed to residents aged 21 years old and younger, and senior citizens to avoid going out even as the government allowed some essential establishments in the city to slowly resume operations based on guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force.

Those who are 21 years old and younger, and 60 years old and older should observe the government’s stay-at-home policy for their protection, according to Atty. Jose Edgardo Uy, chairperson of the economic cluster of the Emergency Operations Center.

Uy said other quarantine rules like the policy on barangay exit passes, physical distancing, and mandatory wearing of face masks outdoors stay.

He said the city will also continue enforcing the curfew hours.

All these despite President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s executive order that placed areas like Cagayan de Oro under a general community quarantine.

Uy said only establishments classified as “essential,” including some stores in malls, are allowed to resume operations.

However, Uy said the resumption of operations of certain businesses does not mean people may unnecessarily go out of their homes.

“Strict home quarantine should still be observed,” Uy said, adding that the Covid-19 threat has remained. (Source: CIO)
