Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia officially commenced the festivities for the 94th Founding Anniversary of Misamis Oriental at the provincial capitol grounds on January 8, 2024.
The inaugural ceremony started off with a Thanksgiving Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Perceus Cabunoc, SSJV.
Throughout the weeklong celebration, diverse activities are scheduled, including a Street Dancing Competition, Booth Contest, and the highly anticipated Search for Miss Kuyamis 2024.
The opening ceremony saw the presence of key figures, including 1st District Congressman Christian Unabia, Vice Governor Jeremy Jonahmar “Jigjag” Pelaez, Provincial Tourism Council Co-Chairperson Ms. Erlinda Unabia, and various heads of departments in Misamis Oriental.
The Bureau on Fire Protection Provincial Director of Misamis Oriental lauded Governor Unabia for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the development of tourism in the province during his congratulatory message.
The Governor's commitment to Goal Oriented Tourism Development, as outlined in his Paglaum Strategic Agenda, was evident throughout the event. Governor Unabia expressed his vision that the celebration would not only boost economic activity but also elevate the province to a premier tourist destination.
