EARLIER today, Nov 9, the Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy welcomed a delegation from the Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PhALGA).
This national association, which represents provincial, city, and municipal accountants across the country, was led by President Smith O. Valdez.
The courtesy visit was confirmed by Shiela Lumbatan, the Chief of Staff of the City Mayor's Office.
Lumbatan said the special visit was arranged in connection with the upcoming 16th Mindanao Geographical Conference.

This significant event is set to be held in Cagayan de Oro City, from February 28 to March 1, 2024, according to Lumbatan.
"This conference aims to bring together experts in geography and related fields from all over Mindanao and beyond," said Lumbatan.
Mayor 'Klarex' appreciated the delegation's visit and expressed his strong support for the conference, she said.
The city mayor, according to Lumbatan reiterated the city's commitment to hosting the event and ensuring its success.
"This conference is an opportunity for Cagayan de Oro City to take center stage in facilitating important discussions on geographical issues," said Lumbatan.
The Mayor's Office and PhALGA discussed potential collaborations and ways to ensure the successful organization of the event.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two parties to exchange views on the importance of accounting in local government units, Lumbatan added.
