TOUTED as the next “good politician” to grace Cagayan de Oro politics, sportswriter and chess player Jaime Joshua Frias II conquered more heights in his journey as a young and budding public servant.

The 42-year-old Frias, who wrote sports news in the now defunct Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro print when he was still in college, inherited the village chair post of his late father James Hilary Borja-Frias, the undisputed chieftain of Barangay 23 for over two decades.

There’s no stopping from here on as he became the number one Kagawad of his barangay after his term and regained the chairmanship which he has served well until now.

Also, the unchallenged president of the mighty Green CdeO Eagles Club, the hard-working Frias recently rose as the new governor of the Northern Mindanao Regional (NMR-1) Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The post was once held by retired police officer Anjun 'Alam Na' Gomez who now serves as City Councilor of Gingoog, a component city of Misamis Oriental.

“The whole package of me is like the newspaper, there’s the front page up to the sports page. I am that package and I’m ready for the gargantuan task as governor of NMR-1,” then said Frias before pulling ahead of Cagayan de Misamis Eagles Club president Yogi Hembrador, 49-33 on Saturday’s NMR-1 General Assembly cum elections at a local hotel.

Asked by Gold Star Daily if the city council seat will be his next destination shortly, Frias said anything can happen, though he insists that whatever will be “performance will always be my best policy as a public servant and your humble Kuya in the Eagles fraternity.”
