EVERY start of the school year in the city’s most populated public elementary school, officials, faculty and staff, and even parents themselves are faced with the recurring problems on late enrollees and the shortage of classrooms.
At the City Central School which serves more than eight thousand students, officials said that late enrollees are among the top problems during the opening of classes. It has always been like that.
The school principal, Dr. Arnold Tejero, said the problems are manageable, and the school can still accommodate late enrollees.
“Walay atong balibaran kon magpa-enroll sila dinhi bisan tingklasi na, ato gihapon silang dawaton,” Tejero said.
According to Tejero, the school is still facing the same old problems on classroom shortages for the first to the fifth grades, prompting the school to initiate a double shift in these classes. The first shift starts at 6 am until 12 noon while the second shift begins at 12 noon until 6 pm.
“Ang Grade 6 pupils nato ma-o ra ang wala mag-double shift kay nagamit na man nato ang bag-ong 27 classrooms nga gi-construct ni Mayor Oscar Moreno. Pero ang Grades 1 to 5 nag-double shift gyud ta,” Tejero said. (nitz arancon)
