A TOTAL of 34 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) couldn't contain their happiness after receiving free wheelchairs personally donated by Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy on Wednesday, October 25.
Mayor Uy has made it a tradition to distribute free wheelchairs during the 'People's Day' held every Wednesday at the city hall quadrangle, particularly for individuals who face difficulties in walking.
In addition to the PWDs, Mayor Klarex also prioritizes and extends proper attention to other sectors of society who are in need of assistance from the city government.
The Chief of Staff of the City Mayor's Office, Sheila Lumbatan, expressed her appreciation for Mayor Klarex's continuous efforts in supporting the PWD community and other marginalized.
Lumbatan further emphasized that the provision of free wheelchairs not only improves the mobility and quality of life for the PWDs but also demonstrates the mayor's commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all residents of the city.
The beneficiaries of the free wheelchairs expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Klarex for his generosity and compassion, stating that these wheelchairs would greatly enhance their independence and enable them to participate more actively in their communities.
"The city government remains dedicated to implementing and initiatives that promote the welfare and well-being of all its constituents, especially those who are marginalized or facing physical challenges," said Lumbatan. (With a report from CIO)
