CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy today condemned the attack on the MSU gym that killed at least four persons and caused injuries to several others when a bomb exploded while a Mass was ongoing.
He is calling for sobriety and expresses his trust in the authorities to take control of the situation, said BenCyrus G. Ellorin, spokesperson of Mayor Klarex Uy.
Ellorin also said the local government of Cagayan de Oro is closely monitoring the situation on the ground and has prepared contingencies to bring in Cagayanon residents who are studying at the state-run university.
"Necessary security measures are also in place at the city," said Ellorin, adding that the mayor, deeply saddened by this tragic event, called for calm and sobriety amidst the chaos.
Ellorin said Mayor Uy firmly believes in the ability and competence of the authorities to handle the situation effectively.
He trusts that they will swiftly take control of the circumstances that led to this destructive attack.
By firmly standing against such heinous acts of violence, Ellorin said the mayor aims to instill hope and reassurance among the city's residents, urging them to remain calm and confident in the face of adversity.
In light of this appalling incident, Mayor Uy and the local government of Marawi are working closely with law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of the city's residents.

The entire city of Cagayan de Oro stands in solidarity with Marawi during these difficult times.
Ellorin said the local government, alongside Mayor Uy, is closely monitoring the situation and extending its full support in providing aid, assistance, and resources needed for the immediate recovery and rehabilitation of the affected individuals and the affected area.
