IN response to the recent bombing incident at the Mindanao State University gymnasium, the local government of Cagayan de Oro has taken swift action by dispatching a rescue team to aid the affected residents of Iligan City.
City Mayor's Office Chief of Staff Shiela Lumbatan said the decision to send assistance was made by Mayor Klarex Uy, who has ordered the immediate evacuation of students from the university as the authorities initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this unfortunate event.
Lumbatan also said in response, the Cagayan de Oro administration has arranged for various vehicles to be deployed to transport affected students from MSU Marawi back to the city. These arrangements aim to provide a safe and secure journey for the students.
"Their primary objective is to assist the students who were studying at the Mindanao State University and ensure their safe evacuation from the area," said Lumbatan.

The team according to Lumbatan is equipped with the necessary resources and personnel to carry out this task efficiently.
Following the incident, around 150 Oro students were initially evacuated to the safety of Iligan City Hall.
It was from this location that the rescue team from Cagayan de Oro picked them up, ensuring their safe transfer to a secured area away from the danger zone, Lumbatan added.
The city's prompt response and swift evacuation efforts have played a crucial role in safeguarding the lives of these students, she stressed.
Earlier, Mayor Uy has been actively urging the city residents to remain calm and place their trust in the authorities who are dedicated to maintaining peace and security in the area.
He understands the gravity of the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all community members.
In addition, Mayor Uy expressed his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the bombing, empathizing with the families who have lost their loved ones and offering solace during this difficult time.
The local government of Cagayan de Oro, Lumbatan said through the efforts of the mayor and his administration, is determined to collaborate closely with the authorities to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
The safety of its residents is at the forefront of their concerns, and they will continue to work tirelessly to restore peace and stability in Iligan City, according to Lumbatan.
As the Oro rescue team reaches its destination, Lumbatan explained that it is expected to provide much-needed support, care, and assistance to the affected residents, prioritizing their safety and well-being above all else.
