AS part of an attempt to guarantee public school students' health and welfare, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy initiated the Bayanihan Health examination, a cost-free medical inspection campaign.
This campaign, conducted on September 19, was organized by volunteer nurses, the City's Inter-agency Committee (CIAC), and the Local School Board led by Doc Alicia Anghay, in collaboration with the Department of Education-Division of Cagayan de Oro.
"The objective of these medical check-ups is to maintain the comprehensive well-being of the students while they are in school and to keep track of their health condition," Uy stated.
The medical check-up is aimed at students in grades 1 through 6 in public schools, Uy detailed, adding that the check-up encompasses both medical and dental inspections.
The campaign was initiated at City Central School and is projected to last for a period of 20 days.
Before the health examination's commencement, an orientation was organized on Monday, September 18, for the volunteer nurses participating in the campaign.
This orientation was designed to ready the nurses for their responsibilities in the examination process and to ensure they possess the required knowledge and competencies.
Preceding this, Shiela Lumbatan, chief of staff at the City Mayor's Office, mentioned that this campaign was a part of Mayor Klarex Uy's commitment, which is clearly visible through this campaign, to the students' health in his city.
"Through offering cost-free health check-ups, the Mayor is not merely aiding in identifying any potential health risks the students might face but is also emphasizing the significance of regular health evaluations," Lumbatan expressed.

Uy restated that this campaign mirrors his commitment to his residents' welfare, especially the youth, who symbolize the city's future.
