CAGAYAN de Oro City's Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy convened the inaugural management committee meeting for the year 2024, spearheading discussions and planning with top city officials.
The meeting, which took place at a local hotel, was a gathering of the city's department managers.
Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan highlighted the significance of this meeting as it was aimed at tackling pressing matters and setting the direction for the city in the upcoming year.
During the meeting, Lumbatan said Mayor Uy took the opportunity to thank the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) for their successful coordination during the Black Nazareno procession and Mass.
The event, held earlier that Tuesday, was peaceful and well-managed, thanks to the efforts of these departments, according to Uy.
This recognition served as a positive note to start the meeting and emphasized the importance of collaborative work.
One of the key announcements made by Mayor Uy was the revamp of the 'Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo' outreach program, said Lumbatan.
In an effort to enhance its impact, the program is being renamed 'Suroy Suroy Sa Baryo'.
The rebranded initiative Lumbatan added will focus more intensively on the various sitios within the city's barangays, aiming to bring services closer to the residents and cater to their specific needs.
The management committee meeting served as a platform to discuss several vital issues that affect the city and its inhabitants.
Lumbatan also pointed out that the agenda included reviewing the Local Transport Master Plan, which is crucial for the efficient movement within the city.
Furthermore, discussions on improving City Hall's operations to align with Civil Service Commission regulations were brought to the table.
"This is part of the city's drive to maintain high standards in public service," said Lumbatan.
Mayor Uy and his team are taking proactive steps to prepare for the impending El Niño weather phenomenon.
"They are also keen on improving agricultural productivity, which is fundamental to the city's economy and food security," Lumbatan explained.
The mayor stressed the importance of effectively tackling these issues, emphasizing that the city's growth and the welfare of its citizens are at stake.
As the meeting concluded, the management committee was tasked with turning these plans into actions to ensure a prosperous year for Cagayan de Oro.
