IN a resounding display of progress, Cagayan de Oro City, under the leadership of Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, has surged to the Top 6 Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

This remarkable achievement marks a significant leap from the city’s Top 7 ranking in 2023.

The CMCI, a widely respected index, evaluates cities and municipalities across various pillars of competitiveness, including economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resilience.

This year’s impressive climb underscores the city’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and improved quality of life for its residents, said City Mayor’s Office chief of staff Sheila Lumbatan.

Further solidifying its impressive performance, Cagayan de Oro also achieved noteworthy rankings in several key CMCI categories: Top 1 – Resiliency, Top 6 – Innovation, Top 7 – Infrastructure, Top 7 – Government Efficiency, Top 7 – Most Improved HUC, and Top 9 – Economic Dynamism.

These rankings highlight the city’s strengths and commitment to progress across various fronts. “Some talk too much, Klarex shows results,” the statement underscores the tangible achievements under Mayor Uy’s leadership.

Lumbatan said that Mayor Uy’s brand of service is not just talk; it is action.

“The city’s consistent improvement in its rankings reflects a clear direction, organized management, and effective service delivery,” she said.

She said that in a resounding display of progress, the city has surged to the Top 6 Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
