CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy earlier today, demonstrated the spirit of generosity and compassion by personally distributing Christmas gifts to hundreds of patients at JR Borja City Hospital (JRBGH) on December 28, 2023.
This heartwarming Christmas event is part of a series of gift-giving activities initiated by the city government to provide food packs and presents to its constituents.

Mayor Uy emphasized that the Christmas season is a time for giving blessings to one another, as shared by Sheila Lumbatan, the Chief of Staff of the City Mayor's Office.
Accompanied by Chief of Hospital Dr. Ferdie Miranda, Mayor Uy went the extra mile by personally distributing sacks of rice, each weighing 5 kilograms, to the families of the patients.

Recognizing the financial burden faced by these families, Mayor Uy expressed his hope that this small contribution would alleviate their daily expenses within the hospital premises.
Sheila Lumbatan also acknowledged the mayor's visit and assistance during the holiday season, stating that the mayor's support brought comfort to the sick and their families.
In addition to the gift distribution, Mayor Klarex took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Dr. Miranda for successfully implementing the Level II accreditation of JRBGH.
This achievement was made possible through the establishment of an Intensive Care Unit, Hemodialysis services, CT Scan facilities, and a tertiary-level laboratory earlier this year, as disclosed by Lumbatan.
Earlier, Mayor Uy also acknowledged the role of Divine Providence and commended the city for its patience and perseverance throughout the waiting period to achieve this accreditation.

The Level II accreditation signifies a significant improvement in the healthcare services available at JRBGH, according to Uy.
Uy said that with these essential healthcare services now accessible to the public, the people of Cagayan de Oro can avail themselves of advanced medical care close to home.
"Mayor Klarex's commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities demonstrates his dedication to improving the well-being of the community," said Lumbatan.
She added that as the year comes to a close, Mayor Uy's act of distributing gifts and personally reaching out to patients and their families serves as a reminder of the true spirit of Christmas – spreading joy and lending a helping hand to those in need.
This selfless gesture from the mayor and the city government exemplifies their unwavering commitment to serving and uplifting the lives of their constituents, especially during the holiday season, said Lumbatan.
