IN response to former Mayor Oscar Moreno’s recent statement accusing incumbent Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy of allegedly using city scholars for troll farms, City Mayor’s spokesperson Jan Actub clarified that these claims are unsubstantiated and misleading.
In a video interview, Moreno stated, “The city scholars gigamit sa troll farms. I hope di sila magpagamit. Ang idealism karon sa mga kabatanonan being eroded, anogon kaayo kay gigamit sila sa troll farms.” (The city scholars are being used in troll farms, but I hope they are not being exploited. The ideals of the youth are being eroded because they are being used by troll farms.)
Responding to Moreno’s allegations, Actub said, “Sir, sorry sir, but if you are a lawyer, then you should prove your allegations.”
He added, “Even our City Education Development Office head, Ms. Petals Dahay, was a victim of troll farming activities, which indicates that these accusations are baseless and politically motivated.”
Actub then highlighted the achievements of Mayor Klarex Uy’s administration, contrasting it with Moreno’s nine-year incumbency.
“It’s important to note that during Mayor Moreno’s nine years in office, only about 7,000 students benefited from the scholarship program,” he pointed out.
In comparison, he emphasized, “In just two years and ten months under Mayor Klarex, nearly 15,000 students have availed of the scholarship program, including 19 law students and 12 medical students.”
The spokesperson also defended the integrity of the city’s scholarship initiatives, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to empowering the youth and promoting transparency.
As political debates continue to unfold in the city, Mayor Uy’s camp remains firm in its stance that allegations should be supported by concrete evidence.
They emphasize that the focus should remain on tangible programs that genuinely benefit the citizens, especially the youth.
