CAGAYAN de Oro City's Mayor Rolando Uy has given a warm welcome to the newly designated police director, Colonel Salvador Nomio Radam.
The introduction was recently made during a meeting attended by the former city police director, Colonel Aaron Mandia.
This change in leadership was directed by the Police Regional Office-10's director, Police Brigadier General Lawrence Coop, on July 13, 2023.
This order, along with Pol. Colonel Radam's role as the officer in charge of the Cagayan de Oro City police office was signed off by the PRO-10 Chief of Staff, Colonel Frankie Candelario, and Colonel Elias D. Hampac, the chief of regional personnel and records.
According to a report, a regional group from Camp Alagar had recommended Colonel Radam for the role.
Before Radam's designation, the Philippine National Police Directorate for Personnel and Records Management in Quezon City has recently released a list comprising of five police officials who are deemed suitable and ready for appointment.
This list has been recommended to both the Regional Director of PRO 10 and the City Mayor's office.
The memo, dated July 3, 2023, referred to a previous memo from May 24, 2023, which the Chief of the PNP approved on June 29, 2023.
This recommendation asked for qualified police officers to be considered for the role of City Director of Cagayan de Oro CPO.
The potential candidates included Colonel Ritchie Siong Bucol, Colonel Amante Quibol Suriaga, Colonel Roy Aque Magsalay, Colonel Darnell Tiotioen Dulnuan, and Colonel Arniel Agustin Hallazgo Catarata.
The selection process is guided by the NAPOLCOM Memorandum Circular No. 2001-005.
The circular gives the City Mayor the power to select the City Director from the list of suitable candidates within ten days of receiving the list, according to Section 51 of R.A. No. 6975.
The newly appointed police director, like other regional, district, provincial, and city directors, will serve a fixed term of two years, unless removed for cause, as stated in the NMC No. 2007-008.
The regional director of PRO 10 is required to report on their actions in this matter to the Directorate for record-keeping and information.
This appointment and the following meeting represent a significant step for the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, showing the dedication of both the National Police Commission and local government officials to effective leadership and the city's safety and security.
